How long have you been doing CrossFit?: Sometime in 2018…I Think!
How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?: Glen and Nicole Wilkens introduced me…wanted/needed to get in shape and have a healthier lifestyle…want to see my kids get married and then hopefully enjoy the grandkids!
Tell us about your fitness/sports background: Never worked out consistently until NE…I’ve played Golf (since my 20’s), Tennis (since I was 10), Pickleball (within the last few months). I umpire High School & College baseball.
What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?: I feel more awake, energetic, cognizant and involved mentally…physically, I can lift much more than when I started and I am beginning to do the Rx WODS. I feel better overall, sleep way better…weight is coming down too!!! Emotional has to be the family at NE…everyone is incredible and always supportive, love my NE family…!!!!
Who or what keeps you coming back and motivated?: Everyone at NE keeps me coming back (Dave D. especially LOL). When you get a call from a member when you’ve missed several days in a row, that’s special…!
In what other ways do you use your fitness?: My tennis game and my endurance has drastically improved. CF has greatly helped the rehab on my knee after surgery.
Please share with us a favorite CrossFit or No Excuses moment.: HUGO 2020…I was nervous about the WODS and all the movements, but we finished and didn’t come in last…LOL Never worked that hard and had so much fun!!!
Name one goal you would like to achieve in the next year (doesn’t have to be CrossFit related, but it can be): Get below 200lbs and improve to Rx WODS…definitely CF related!!!!
Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym: Drinking Beer, spending time with my family & Friends, UGA Sports, Umpiring, playing tennis, Golf and now pickleball…
What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?: Go for it, and as I was told when I started…”keep coming back.” If you want to see results, get in 4-5 times a week. CF is the best fitness path because it’s varied, non judgmental and everyone there is supportive and friendly. Always ask the coaches about the correct movements and scaling options…
What do you love most about No Excuses?: The atmosphere…meaning the members and coaches will push you and always support you with your goals…like a family member, even the crazy Uncle…LOL
