How long have you been doing CrossFit?

1.5 years

How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?

Brandon and I went to middle and high school together. I saw him on Facebook one day with another friend from school after they worked out at No Excuses. I looked up the gym and it was literally 10 minutes down the road. I stopped by shortly after and signed up.

Tell us about your fitness/sports background:

Played football starting in Elementary school. Ran track in High School (Pole Vaulter). Dislocated my shoulder in a High School football game and have had three shoulder surgeries sense then. Recovered and did a lot of weight training in college but life took over, etc, etc….and now I’m back. I also really enjoy cycling.

What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?

I feel more motivated overall with everything and I’ve also have made some great new friends.

Who or what keeps you coming back and motivated?

Looking for long term health changes so I can be with and enjoy my family as long as possible.

In what other ways do you use your fitness?

Hiking, working in the yard, and um you know…other stuff…

Please share with us a favorite CrossFit or No Excuses moment.

No Excuses Bingo has been a lot of fun this year… Everything from making a pyramid with my 8am crew to doing junk yard dog with Dave.

Name one goal you would like to achieve in the next year (doesn’t have to be CrossFit related, but it can be)

I would like to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym:

I work too much… Any suggestions? Maybe this should be my goal? Is Netflix a hobby?

What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?

Keep coming…even if it is once a week. Getting to know everyone also helps. The better the relationships you build with everyone at the gym the more it makes you want to go. CrossFit is good for fitness, but it is also about community.

What do you love most about No Excuses?

All the members and coaches are great people. Like I’ve said above…I have made some great new friends. I’m looking forward to the next Men’s Campout!
