No Excuses CrossFit member Vince Raia works out during CrossFit Open 17.2.

Each year at the CrossFit Games, they honor someone with the Spirit of the Games award. This honor goes to the ‘athlete who embodies the spirit of the sport.’

Each week during the 2017 CrossFit Open, No Excuses CrossFit will recognize a member it feels represented the Spirit of the Games. This week’s honor goes to …

Vince Raia only recalls doing one or two toes to bar in his life. So when the movement came up in the Rx Masters version of 17.2, he thought he would need to do the Scaled division. Then the day of the Open he began to warm-up and got a few toes to bar before the WOD. It gave him a little encouragement and he decided to do the Rx version. What transpired over the next 12 minutes Vince never imagined. He completed two rounds of toes to bar for 32 total reps. It was by far the most reps he’s ever done in a workout.

The Open has that magical way of revealing strength or skills we never knew we had until forced to do it.

Congrats Vince! We are very proud of you!
