The Atlanta Braves are out of the Major League Baseball playoffs after falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series on Sunday.
It was a great season for the Braves despite everything that went on this year. From the season being delayed to playing just 65 regular season games. The Braves were one of the best teams in baseball. And they were one game away from the World Series despite a depleted starting rotation that was injured during the regular season.
As the Braves players, coaches, and front office prepare for the offseason, they will reflect on the season. What worked, what didn’t work, what can they do better. They will then make decisions on how they want to proceed with the 2021 baseball season.
It’s easy for the Braves to take this time to evaluate the team as the season has ended. But sometimes as CrossFitters we forget to evaluate ourselves. We are always training and working out that there’s not a typical season of change. However, it’s important to have reflection and set our minds towards the future.
It’s beneficial to look back and see what we’ve accomplished. Maybe that’s just in the past month, 90 days, 6 months or a year. By doing so we recognize what we’ve achieved. That could be getting in a better routine of going to the gym, or lifting more weight, or being more cautious of what we eat.
Ask yourself these three questions.
What’s going well for me?
What’s not going well for me?
What can I do moving forward?
I’ll give you my answers. My training is better now than it was three months ago. I still have issues doing certain movements and the amount of weight lifted is limited. As I move forward, I want to be more intentional about what I eat and how much I eat.
Once you have asked yourself these questions and have given yourself truthful answers it should help give you clarity about what you want to do moving forward. Do you keep the same old routine or do you try to adjust it?
