How long have you been doing CrossFit?
“Since May 2016.”

How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?
“I needed to make a change in my life. I noticed No Excuses because it isn’t far from the house and scheduled my intro session with Brandon. I have friends back home that do CrossFit and appreciate the fact that all I need to do is to show up.”

Tell us about your fitness/sports background:
“Growing up I have always been active in sports and the outdoors – soccer, swimming, tennis, and skiing. Living in places like Colorado, Utah, and Montana the environment will always challenge you.”

What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?
“Like others, I have a lot more energy and confidence. Working out has also helped out with the stress of everyday life. I sleep better, I feel better…I actually tend to get cranky when I can’t squeeze in a WOD because of my schedule. And let’s be honest, more muscle, a solid two pack…my hot wife isn’t complaining either.”

Who or what keeps you coming back and motivated?
“I have five kids (yes a basketball team) that…absolutely mean everything to me. I want to make sure I stay active and take advantage of the few years I get to spend with them as they grow up.

In what other ways do you use your fitness?”
“I still play a good amount of tennis and have notice improvements in my game. I’m quicker on the court and to the ball. Nothing is more satisfying when your opponent has an dumbfounded look on their face because they thought the point was over.”

Please share with us a favorite CrossFit or No Excuses moment.
“When I was about a six months in I remember one workout being far from done when I noticed everyone had finished. I had a moment where I was about to call it so I didn’t feel embarrassed. At that same time several individuals came over and started cheering me on. It still took me quite awhile to finish but with the support of others, I did.”

Name one goal you would like to achieve in the next year (doesn’t have to be CrossFit related, but it can be)
“Muscle up.”

Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym:
“As a father of five kids…am I supposed to have hobbies and interests?”

What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?
“Just keep going…never give up.”

What do you love most about No Excuses?
“Hands down, the people.”

Coach Chris’ Take:
“Peter is always on time and has been very consistent, coming 5 days a week. He listens and then applies the coaching advice. With that being said, because of these things he has come a long way in the weight he can lift to now being able to do kipping pull ups in workouts. Peter is a prime example of an exceptional student.”
