How long have you been doing CrossFit?
“Since April 2013.”
How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?
“My friends in Tennessee had started a gym so we joined when we moved there. They had a women’s only class which I started with and then went to the main classes about a month later. I wanted to see what it was all about!”
Tell us about your sports/fitness background:
“Nothing organized, but I have always been active in some capacity.”
What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses? *
“The No Excuses family has completely embraced me (and Peyton) since day 1. I was in a new area where I didn’t know anyone, with a new baby, and a deployed husband. My family was/is hundreds of miles away. Since I joined, I have become mentally and emotionally stronger as I have found a family that I can lean on and rely on no matter what. I have learned to ask for and accept help, and I have learned to embrace each day as it comes. Physically, I have lost 30 pounds and I have improved in every area of the sport.”
What keeps you coming back and motivated?
“The coaches and the members! The constant daily challenge of the unknowable pushes me to workout the hardest I can and to continuously improve.”
In what other ways do you use your fitness?
“Well, I have a one year old, so that’s a big part of it, but I also like to use it to motivate and encourage others – girls can be strong too!”
Who or what motivates/inspires you?
“My little guy Peyton inspires me to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. I want to be a good example for him. But a little bit of my motivation comes from my personal need to improve and get better at CrossFit. When you hit one goal…there is always another one ready to make you work!”

“When everyone helped me welcome Matt’s unit back to the country and made posters for the picture! That was such a great moment for me at No Excuses.”

“Bar Muscle Up!!”
Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym:
“I like to watch college football, I like to drink wine, and I chase Peyton around–that’s pretty much my life!”
What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?
“Take the leap! You don’t have to be “fit” to start, every single thing we do is scaleable to each individual so it doesn’t matter your fitness background or your age – anyone can do this!”
What do you love most about No Excuses?
“The atmosphere, the competitiveness, the constant need to improve, the programming, the care and concern the coaches/staff have for each member, I could go on and on…”

“The moment that Lindsay joined our gym I knew she was going to fit right in with her positive attitude, her love of community and her drive to improve. When she started with us she was already an experienced CrossFit athlete, but was coming back to CrossFit after having her baby. Lindsay had some big goals for herself. It has been encouraging watching her take the necessary steps and consistent action towards reaching her goals. I think it is safe to say that she is a better athlete than she was, and she also has tremendous potential for the future!”
