How long have you been doing CrossFit?
“Since March 2016.”

How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?
“I found CrossFit through my sister in law.  I had gone to a couple bring a friend days.  Then in 2016 I decided I needed to try something different.  I took me two years to join.”

Tell us about your sports/fitness background:
“I played softball up until college.  I’ve worked out with trainers before.  I’ve tried just about everything.”

What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?
“I feel physically stronger than I ever have.  I also have more confidence in myself to try new things.”

What keeps you coming back and motivated?
“Everyone is so encouraging.  Everyone I have met keeps me coming back.  I love group workouts because then you can’t quit.”

In what other ways do you use your fitness?
“I just try to be active to enjoy life and to feel young.”

Who or what motivates/inspires you?
“I think what motivates me is that everyone is striving to be better no matter how old or young.  Just watching people hit their goals or doing stuff they never thought was possible is inspiring.”

Please share with us a favorite CrossFit or No Excuses moment.
“I think my moment was in this recent CrossFit Open, which was my first one.  I finally got 1 chin over bar pull up in the last 10 seconds after attempting for 6 minutes.”

Name one goal you would like to achieve in CrossFit.
“I would really like to be able to do a strict pullup.  I would like to strengthen my upper body.”

Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym:
“My new hobby is golf.  I am willing to try anything new at least once.  I tried rock climbing and I ran a 15K in the past year.”

What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?
“My advice would be to just try it, because you might like it.  Just keep with it, it is a process and you will improve.  You also will meet great people along the way.”

Coach Laura’s Take:
“Like most people, Trina was unsure about getting started, but simply by being consistent and sticking it out she has developed physically as well as mentally. It has been great to see her confidence grow and see her improving her skills and her strength. Trina has a unique work schedule as a nurse, and she still finds time to get in to the gym. That is a testament to her dedication. I have no doubt she will continue to improve in the years to come.”
