How long have you been doing CrossFit?
“Since July, 2015”

How did you first discover CrossFit and what made you decide to start?
“Cristina and Tyler White are some of our closest friends and they got my husband Patrick to drink the juice. He convinced me to have a taste too.”

Tell us about your sports/fitness background:
“What’s less than none?”

What sorts of positive changes (mental, physical, emotional) have you noticed in your life since getting involved at No Excuses?
“I have become more confident with trying things that are completely foreign to me. Even something as seemingly simple as filling out this questionnaire is outside of my comfort zone. I certainly never thought that I would call myself a ‘crossfitter’. After all, what I used to consider exercise was a strenuous 15 minutes on the elliptical.”

What keeps you coming back and motivated?
“My husband Patrick, my daughter Frankie, and seeing positive results.”

In what other ways do you use your fitness?
“I don’t…LOL. Im kidding! CrossFit truly has helped me be a better mother by allowing me to be more active and hands-on with my kid and it has also helped tremendously with being on my feet and moving all day at the salon.”

Who or what motivates/inspires you?
“Patrick motivates me. Not in a sweet way, but more in a way that I can’t have him being younger AND looking better than me. Frankie also motivates me because I want her to have a healthy mom. I want her to grow up having a positive outlook on being active and staying fit, and I want her to know that woman can be strong.”

Please share with us a favorite CrossFit or No Excuses moment.
“You remember that time the WOD was over? That one.”

Name one goal you would like to achieve in CrossFit.
CrossFit Games 2017, lol….or just trying not to hurt myself.”

Tell us about your hobbies and interests outside of the gym:

What advice do you have for someone just starting CrossFit or is on the fence about starting?
“That if I can do it, literally anyone can. Anyone. Literally anyone who has a pulse. You just need to stick with it. There was a point I didn’t want to go back and I felt defeated. I know now that I would have regretted not giving it a chance. Now I’m excited to go to my 9:30 class with all the other mothers kicking ass. And I just rhymed. ha.”

What do you love most about No Excuses?
“I love all of the coaches and the other crosfitters that I have met. There is so much encouragement and positivity in the No Excuses community. You guys and gals rock my face off.”

Coach Brandon’s Take:
“Like a lot of people, Jessica was very timid to do CrossFit. When she first started, she was very inconsistent with the evening classes. Then she started coming to the 9:30 am class on a regular basis and has made tremendous progress. Just from being in the gym three days a week, her strength has improved dramatically along with her conditioning. Jessica is a very coachable athlete and continues to make progress not only physically, but mentally.”
