1) How long have you been crossfitting?
Jan 2011-April 2011; November 2011- Present
2) What kept you coming back/motivated?
Progress. Plain and simple. True positive results have a distinct way of motivating.
3) How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
I was never one to regularly workout while I was in school. Now the only way I can maybe see myself stopping is in some sort of apocalyptic scenario. Maybe.
It’s important to understand that everyday when you come in there is no faking it, no going through the motions and knowing that you will be humbled. Everyone who comes into the gym is there to work hard and get better. Every workout is just you fighting against whatever limitations you think you have. Experiencing that type of clarity everyday doesn’t only change you physically. My mental approach for a workout carries over to any challenges in life. I just have to work hard, tackle it head on and try get closer to perfection every time.
4) What is the one thing you have done here that you never thought you could do?
Pullups. Definitely. I was the kid who could never get one and would get put to shame by the gymnastics girls. I might still be put to shame but I can put up a better fight now.
5) What is your proudest (CF) achievement?
Rope climbs a couple of weeks ago were pretty cool. I forgot to wear long socks so the fact that I managed to keep coming in to workout despite a gash in my foot is probably more of an achievement than the climbs themselves. I’m going to take that as a testament to the impact that Crossfit has had on my willpower.
6) Name one goal/personal achievement that you would like to achieve through CrossFit?
A strict, no-kip muscle up
7) Any advice for new members?
Work hard. Be humble. Have fun.
Coaches Comments or quotes about athlete?
Ankit has this months “Spotlight Athlete” simply because of his humbleness, coach-ability, and never give up attitude that he applies to his training every single time he walks through the doors. Ankit is an example of what it means to fight hard every time to improve even when those improvements are a centimeter or half a pound at a time. Keep up the focused and goal-oriented work my friend and all your goals will come to fruition.
