How long have you been CrossFitting? September 2012
What keeps you coming back/motivated?
“When I first came to CrossFit I THOUGHT I was in good shape, then after a couple of classes I figured out how much I SUCK. That’s probably what motivates me to come back because there is SO much stuff I need to work on. And I LOVE that endorphin rush you get post-WOD.”
How did you find CrossFit?
“I watched the CrossFit Games for the first time last year and thought that it was pretty cool. My husband has CrossFitted off and on for years, so I finally jumped on the bandwagon.”
What is your athletic background (If applicable)?
“I never played sports in school, but I have four brothers, so it’s hard not to have competitive spirit.”
How has CrossFit changed your life, lifestyle, level of fitness?
“CrossFit has made me think more about technique and that it’s not just being able to pick up heavy weights, but how you do it that matters.”
What is the one thing you have done here that you never thought you could do? (muscle up, double unders, heavy deadlift, run a mile, etc.)
“It took me SOOOO long to figure out the kipping pull-up!!! I worked on it all the time, then one day it just clicked. I can still only do four in a row, but I am working on that.”
What motivates/inspires you?
“Probably my kids. Especially my daughter, because I want her to know that she can be a strong and confident woman, who doesn’t only live on salads.”
What is your proudest CrossFi achievement?
“My 4 pull-ups!!”
Name one goal/personal achievement you would like to achieve through CrossFit?
“Being No. 1 girl at the CrossFit Games this year or even next year would be pretty cool. :)”
What goals have you achieved in CrossFit?
“Just trying to get better each class.”
Hobbies/Interests outside of CrossFit?
“I love hiking. Any outdoor activity that gets that kids away from the TV.”
What is your favorite meal?
“SUGAR!! I LOVE sugar! I mainly eat Paleo, but if I had to pick a meal to have right before I was executed it would be Sourpatch kids and chewy, slightly undercooked, brownies.”
Any advice for new members?
“Give it some time before you decide if you hate it. Truth be told, I kind of hated it in the beginning, but now I love it….most days;)”

“Amber is extremely dedicated and usually stays after the WOD to work on skills like pull-ups or double unders. Her natural athleticism has helped her pick up some of the more complex movements very quickly; I think she has a future in the sport, especially with her work ethic and tenacity!”
