Deadlifts help develop the tissues of the body to be prepared to lift any object in life, including big tires, and to do so efficiently and safely. The key to developing in the deadlift is technique first, consistency of that technique and then and only then, increase the intensity (load or speed). In other words, start very light and slowly increase as you perform deadlifts with flawless technique. I might add that this is easier said than done due to the constant battle we all have with our EGO!
