Christopher was born with a heart condition and the subsequent open heart surgery and pacemaker prevented him from working out with weights or participating in any contact sports up through college, including even things like soccer. Despite being told by his doctors that he would always need a pacemaker, Chris refused to believe this was his fate; stubborn is another way of putting it. In his 20’s, his condition resolved and he underwent surgery to have his Pacemaker removed. With the restriction on physical activity lifted, Chris became a self-taught 130 lb, 22 year old performing every movement about as wrong as possible from a form perspective. The majority of trainers he met had grown up in sports and were in great shape so he struggled to relate to them. In Chris’ words: “Coaching is something I am very passionate about as I have seen so many folks walk out of a gym because of a bad experience; so for me I want to help each person learn how capable they truly are.”
After finding CrossFit in 2007 via an Olympic Lifting seminar Chris began researching CrossFit and eventually found his way to No Excuses. Chris is a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, USAW Sports Performance Coach and has attended the CrossFit Mobility and Movement, Olympic Lifting, and Gymnastics specialty seminars. In addition to performance seminars, Chris has also attended both the Robb Wolf Paleo Solution and Whole 9 Life nutrition seminars.
Chris heads up our Basics Class programming and enjoys helping our new athletes learn and get familiar with CrossFit.
