CrossFit Level 1 Certified
Blake began CrossFit in April of 2009, having just been hired by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. Knowing the the physical training at the Fire Academy was going to be Crossfit based, Blake sought out No Excuses CrossFit to begin preparing for his career as a firefighter. After a workout named “Cindy” (20 minutes of 5 pull ups, 10 push up, and 15 air squats) left him humbled, and sore for over a week, he knew No Excuses CrossFit was where he needed to train to become prepared for the activities he would face at the Fire Academy. Training in CrossFit for four months while attending EMT school prepared Blake for the physical and mental demands of the Fire Academy. Blake has continued his CrossFit training over the years at No Excuses and at the fire station with other fellow firefighters.
In addition to the benefits of CrossFit we see in our athletes at No Excuses, Blake has seen how the implementation of CrossFit into Gwinnett County Fire’s physical training has developed more functionally fit firefighters better able to protect the county.
Blake is a Level 1 CrossFit Trainer as well as CrossFit Kids certified. In Blake’s own words: “My goals as a coach are to help others reach their God given potential by providing knowledge of CrossFit and nutrition. With those two combined, any person can reach their goals of fitness and health. The family at No Excuses is supportive, competitive, and welcoming to all levels of fitness and personalities. That is what makes No Excuses the best place to train CrossFit.”
