CrossFit Level 1 Certified

It all started in April of 2009, I had just been hired by Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. I knew the physical training at our Fire Academy was going to be Crossfit based, and I need to get ready! I found No Excuses Crossfit and decided I would stop by and check it out. Coach Ben put me through a workout called “Cindy” 20 minute work out with as many rounds as possible of 5 pull ups, 10 push up, and 15 air squats. I thought I was already in good shape from running and weightlifting. Wow was I wrong I completed 11 rounds with modified pull ups, push ups, and some pretty ugly air squats. I was sore for over a week! I knew this is where I need to train to become prepared for the activities I was soon to face at the Fire Academy.

I trained at No Excuses for 4 months while attending EMT school. Finally the Fire Academy rolled around and Coach McGriff was in charge of our physical training with the training I obtained from the No Excuses staff I was ready! I currently work in Norcross for Gwinnett County Fire. Thanks to Coach McGriff for implementing Crossfit into Gwinnett County Fire’s physical training we now have more functionally fit firefighters that can protect our county. I continued my Crossfit training after completing the academy at No Excuses and at the fire station with other fellow firefighters.

In September 2010 I obtained my Crossfit Level One Certification. My goals as a coach are to help others reach there God given potential by providing the knowledge of Crossfit, and nutrition. With those two combined any person can reach there goals of fitness and health. The family at NEC is supporting, competitive, and welcoming to all levels of fitness and personalities. That is what makes NEC the best place to train Crossfit.

….After a year of training at No Excuses I repeated the work out “Cindy” I completed 22 rounds as prescribed. I also completed another one of my goals Firefighter Fran, first attempt.
